After spending 37 days in the hospital, enduring numerous surgeries followed by extensive therapy. Sgt. Amphibious Assault Monument

On March 14, 2026, Chapter President Sherwin Bostick and Compatriot Roger Sherman represented the Chapter at the dedication of a monument commemorating the United States’ first amphibious assault. This was an official America 250 Event.

On March 3-4, 1776, Continental Marines and Sailors landed in the Bahamas and attacked British forts there to obtain gunpowder and cannons that were desperately needed by Patriots fighting in the Revolutionary War in the 13 colonies. The success of the raid was not only the capture of military stores and gunpowder, but it also forced the British to maintain a presence in the Caribbean, which meant fewer British soldiers and ships could fight for the Crown in the colonies.
